Mark Lohman posted this today on his Facebook page:

Rest In peace Cayenne Pepper
2007-2016
I put Cayenne out of her misery today, she fought hard, but with total kidney failure, I had to let her go.
Two weeks ago, Saturday she won the nationals with me, in Tunica Ms. we came home, and she was fine. One week ago I rode her in the first stage on Saturday and discovered she had a cough, so I brought her right home. Tuesday last week, although the vet heard no issues with her lungs, we started her on a mild antibiotic, because of a slight discharge and cough, not to worried at this point. Seemed to recover through the week, and symptoms went away. but Saturday evening she developed a fever, 102.2. Banamine took it down but Sunday she stopped eating and was moping around. Yesterday AM the vet drew blood and by 2pm the results were in and "scary off the charts" I got her to the hospital by 5 and at 3am they called, after dripping almost 7 liters of fluids into her, her kidneys would not work, not even a little. We gave her until 2 this afternoon for a miracle, it didn't come. She was HYPP NEG.
this is her winning run just 2 weeks ago on Saturday
